The cold water soak works well with European "country sheep" breeds
- Romney, Leicester, E. Frisian, - or any fleece that doesn't have
the waxy grease that often accompanies merino/rambo fleece (including
crosses).

Just let soak overnight and rinse well - it is still somewhat greasy,
but spins well. Tips on spinning - make sure such wool is well warmed
(cold lanolin is sticky), and if your spinning equipment gets black
sticky buildup on the hooks, axles, etc., clean with alcohol on a
Q-tip.

Nice on your hands.
