>>Has anyone else had luck with doing the cold water soak?<<

Yup. It works a treat. Gets all the mud and guck out. Makes it easier for the
Orvis to get in get out the lanolin. I don't have to use as much Orvis, or wash
the fleece as many times, as I would have to if I hadn't done the cold water
soak.

I enjoy reading the different replies on various subjects. One person will
suggest not using laundry detergent. Another suggests using it. Both get
excellent results.

I hate using Dawn. I just can't get it to rinse out. I use Orvis and can't say
enough good things about it. It gets all the muck, dirt, and grease out, and
rinses out w/o a problem. I've also used All Free, with the same success.

I think it all depends on your water, and the chemicals in it. Maybe it takes
some experimentation, to find the best product for fleece washing, in a
particular area?

Some people use people shampoo. It doesn't get all the grease out, which they
like. To me, the fiber feels greasy, and I don't want to touch it. I've used a
Revlon shampoo, only because I like the residual odor left in the fiber. I try
to pretend that the moths won't go after the wool, if it smells like human
shampoo. Yeah, yeah. I know. Don't burst my bubble, ok?
