You might try putting the hair in something like a lingerie bag. Let the hair soak, maybe gently squush it a time or two. Lift it out of the soapy water and drain. Rinse in the same temp water. Squeeze gently, don't wring. Don't agitate. Get as much water out as possible so it'll dry as fast as possible at room temperature--no dryer, no washer. *Joy os Spinning* talks about the sweater she made from her dog's hair.
