That is funny and true about the psychological response to the smell of dog hair - or even some other fiber. And certainly, I have noticed most animal fibers smell strongly when wet. I don't usually mind the sheep smell, but when my dog is wet it is fairly unpleasant ;-)

When I learned to spin, I bought some fiber that was said to have silk, merino and "glitz". Those were the contents listed on the label. The shop owner said it looked like it had angora rabbit hair in it too. It was beautiful, but when I wet the yarn to set it - phew! I have never smelled such a strong awful smell from something that was supposed to be mostly merino! Good thing there is no smell at all when the yarn is dry. I made a scarf that my husband likes to wear and he hasn't said anything yet either (smile).
