In FinMac 2003 screen redraws aren't even necessary after most dialog boxes. It is like they appear on a different layer that doesn't interfere with the musical graphics. Is this no longer an option for the programmers?
F2K4 hasn't cottoned on to window layer usage in Carbon or the correct use of windows and controls. Try clicking in the Resize box (Grow box for some) of a main window sometime. Or go into the Expression Designer and watch that thing do triple/quadruple drawing before it settles down.
The way it stands now is that Finale relies on OS X double buffered window features to mask drawing inefficiencies but these features must be coordinated with properly embedded controls and other tricks to look good and draw faster on OS 9. If it did that, OS X drawing speed would be improved too. Just because we can't see it doesn't mean it's not doing triple draws in X.
