Could they be leaning more towards the way Sibelius works? There is no need for screen redrawing or refreshing in that program.

In over a decade of using Finale, it has been consistently and
significantly slower to display a screen of information than any other
comparable program. Maybe redraw was needed in 1992, but by mid-decade they
should have been done with it. It's now nearly the middle of *this* decade!
