Upon further research I now realize that the problems with MacFin04 are not nearly as noticeable under OSX as OS9. Redraws in Fin04 are nearly as fast on my machine under OSX as they are in Fin03 under OS9. (The redraw performance of each Finale version stinks in its opposite OS.)

Also, in OSX no redraws are required after dialog boxes. The preservation of contents under dlg boxes may be an OSX native feature, which could explain why it disappeared from the OS9 version of Fin04.

Basically (as noted previously on this list) the OS9 version of MacFin04 is unusable. Anyone who depends on OS9 booting would be well-advised not to upgrade. OS9 support apparently survives merely to fulfill marketing hype. Most likely there will be no further OS9-compatible versions.

In FinMac 2003 screen redraws aren't even necessary after most dialog boxes. It is like they appear on a different layer that doesn't interfere with the musical graphics. Is this no longer an option for the programmers?
