On the topic of SLOW, I remember doing a compliation of patterns, like 70 pages, in 1989, on ENCORE on a Mac II. It would get slower, and slower as the pages got added. Transposing 4 bars would take like 15 minutes......
How far we have come.............
Heh heh! Not to try to top you, but the slowest operation I ever did was my first project, done with the help of a friend on his Quadra (because it was so fast compared to mine!) in Finale 2.0 or similar. We had split a concert band score into two parts to work on it, and had to paste the two parts together before extracting parts. We started the operation at 8:00 pm, then we watched some TV and had a well-deserved beer together. Around midnight the little train was still chugging along, so I went home. I called the next day after breakfast. Still chugging. Around lunch time, 16 hours after starting the paste operation, my friend called to say it was done, and come on over!
I bought soon afterwards a 7100, which at 80 mHz was more than ten times faster than my previous 8 mHz machine. It was replaced more recently by my present 733 mHz G4, which is in turn more than 10 times faster than THAT one, or over 100 times faster than my first machine! At that rate, I can't wait for my NEXT one! Whee!
