But before anyone considers jumping ship, he/she should join the Sibelius group at Yahoogroups, and then go through the archives and get a feeling for the frustrations they have run through with the upgrades (longer period between major upgrades which cost money) and the complaints about things which don't work right, which haven't been fixed in repeated versions, which used to work wonderfully in the older Acorn version of Sibelius which aren't even available anymore in the Windows or Mac versions.

And realize that trading one set of frustrations for another may or may not be a wise move. Of course the frustrations with Sibelius may not be a bother for some for whom the frustrations with Finale have reached critical mass. For others, the frustrations with Finale may well seem like tiny bumps in the road of life compared to the frustrations they may run into with Sibelius.

I know that Finale will get my upgrade dollars again this year as I hope against hope that they stay afloat and Finale remains on the market because, frustrating or not, I find Finale and I are a good working relationship while Sibelius and I agree not to bother each other -- Sibelius sits on my computer's hard drive and I try not to run it, and it tries not to smirk at me through its icon. ;-)

Aaron,

I'm sure a lot of people do feel that way. But if you want to jump ship, Sibelius awaits. If we want to see Finale survive, however, we're going to have to accept that Coda doesn't have unlimited time and resources to spend fixing Finale 2004. At a certain point, we just have to let it go and hope that the next upgrade will be better. (Or give up on Coda and switch to Sibelius.)

You're talking about Coda, I assume -- I think many of us feel that paying for Fin2005 is throwing good money after bad on our parts as well.
