You may be right about how Finale develops from now on, but I see plenty of areas for improvement.

1) Take spacing for instance. We now have tools for horizontal spacing and can tweak them quite extensively. Get them set up right and most of the time we don't have to fiddle with individual items. But what about giving the program vertical spacing smarts as well? This is currently a very time consuming part of layout.

Wouldn't it be great if we could run a variety of tools (much like we do for horizontal spacing) to help us avoid collisions of items from one staff to another? I'm talking about extremely high and low notes, slurs and hairpin dynamics, expressions and other markings. These tools could quickly show where the collisions occur and offer the best solutions (movement of individual items, respacing staves, % alterations and other tricks that we use).

2) Finale could use many GUI improvements. How many years do we have wait for a larger window for our staff expressions? The fact that we have to search through sometimes hundreds of expressions in this little box is ridiculous! How about a resizeable Finder-like window with a variety of ways to organize the items? (alphabetical, font, font-size, grouped items or folders, etc.)

3) And of course, my favourite pet-peeve -- SPEED!
