That's opposit to what Tyler has said, and it's opposite to what Jari
says in his review (he's a beta tester) -- his web-site says:
"The downside is that you can't mix the intergrated VST playback with
other types of MIDI playback (such as the SoftSynth)."
This supports what Tyler says. So here's a case of either the person
you spoke to not having actually tried it, or the beta version and
whatever version Tyler has been using are different from the release
version (although the evasive answer you were given leads me to believe
that the person you spoke to may just not be wanting to say that what
you're asking is impossible.) If the person you spoke to really knew it
could be done, I would think the answer would be more "certainly, and
this is how you do it . . ."
I'd trust the empirical evidence of Jari and Tyler, or perhaps (given
their deeper contacts in the company) they can get to the bottom of why
a person in the company is saying it is possible (even a "something like
that, call me after you've got your copy" manner) when their experience
says it's not possible.
