As long as you do everything the way Microsoft decided you should do 
it, you'll not run into problems. 

If, on the other hand, you want to use your optical drives consistent 
with other removable media and with the way optical drives have 
worked in all previous versions of Windows, you can run into major 
problems.

And don't even *think* about leaving a CD-R with an unclosed session 
in the drive when you shut down your system. You will get a STOP code 
BSOD.

And Microsoft knows it.

And doesn't have a workaround (except for not leaving the CD in the 
drive).

And I'm that problem occurs on a WinXP machine with all the factory 
defaults, with CD-R/RW and DVD drive installed at the factory.
