What is your backup routine? I guess I don't understand how you'd be able

Well, if I save my work regularly (and only when I am reasonably comfortable that the data is still intact), and also have autosave set to 10 minutes, I am likely to have two backup copies (three if I have Finale set to automatically save backups when I save) when the bug strikes. If, by accident, I hit command-s after the bug has struck, I still have the autosaves. And the backup saves. If not, all I loose is what I did since the last save. If autosave kicks in after the bug struck I still have my backup and my saved copy. If both autosave and an accidental command-s happened I still have the backup.

I also do routine backups to two external hardisks after any amount of substancial work I did, so that gives me some extra security. One those harddisks is portable and I take it with me whereever I go.

I can live with that much security. I do not believe in safe software.

Today I was working on something completely differently, I was editing a recording. I lost about an hour's work because the software crashed. Annoying, no doubt, but nothing to get worked up about. It only happens every once in a while, and as long as I don't completely loose work that took months to do (which I don't because I have backups) I live with it. Have to live with it.
