Um, that's all very interesting, but simply has nothing to do with 
your recommendation, to turn off AutoSave. With this current bug, 
turning ON AutoSave could be what saves your bacon. Frequent manual 
saves are exactly what could cause you to overwrite good data with 
corrupted data. 

And, of course, there's also the backup file that you can choose to 
create each time you manually save a file, and that might save you if 
you saved and the real file had the data missing.

Let me say again that I highly recommend the use of a program that 
manages your deleted files. The one that I use allows me to recover 
every version of the file saved back to an incredibly long time ago. 
This means that I could never lose much work to a bug like this, 
because I've can recover every version of the MUS, BAK and ASV files 
that have ever been saved. Sometimes it's hard to tell which one is 
the best to restore, but at least all the versions are there for me 
to attempt to recover.
