What kind of A3 paper do you use?

Dennis

I'm just using generic Logic 300 80gsm for proofing of 12 x 9 concert
size at 100% by ourselves and clients etc, it doesn't ever have to be
used on stands or anything.

Sorry Dennis, I speed read your question.

Are you sure it's the paper? I've only ever used 80gsm, I tried to
source some heavier A3 at a reasonable price a while back and it all
seemed outrageously overpriced. What weight are you using there? Maybe I
should buy a few sheets of heavy from a repro house to test before I go
and buy loads of the stuff!

My understanding is that most of the HP printers can only handle heavy paper if it is fed through the straight path (utility tray) and output through the back, rather than out the normal tray.

My secondhand HP 5100 is certainly like this. I have the duplexer, but it is useless if I want to print to heavyweight paper, as it chokes mercilessly on it. I can resort to manual duplex if I need it, but if I had known that before I might have saved myself a bundle on the duplexer, which is only good with regular-weight paper. I can't even use a normal feed tray with my heavy part paper; I have to feed it straight in through the front.
