Do you know if it's possible to add a blank page to the part but not the linked score?

Using the Finale UI there is no problem adding blank pages anywhere to a part (and not to the score). The problem lies in using a plugin to do this function.

The Finale UI does not permit adding staves to a part.

I have been vocal in pointing out the caveats, but only as a means of showing how you might use the feature even if you don't have fully-linked parts and score. I agree with David Fenton that it is a remarkably good 1.0 effort. I only hope they continue to refine it. The annual upgrade cycle is not condusive to refining old features.

And yet they have managed to tweak the HP function with each version since they initiated it, so there is hope.

I think that the linked score/parts feature is such a major attraction that it will continue to be refined, as opposed to the import-midi function which is of little marketable value and is only important to a small subset of Finale users.

Linked-score/parts is something that publishers will have been shouting for, I'm sure, among others, and I bet MakeMusic will continue to make it a major area of concern in the next annual upgrade or two. Especially because it offers great promise for their SmartMusic program. Soon they can build in the ability of a band-director or chorus teacher or orchestra conductor to buy full-score files which will allow the following:

1) printing of parts as necessary;
2) playback of the score in SmartMusic, with the student selected part showing on screen for practice and the displayed part optionally muted or playing for the student to play along with; 3) see 2, only using the SmartMusic microphone function, mark students automatically for accuracy of pitch and rhythm, making student assessment by computer quick and easy for the teacher, and leave the potential for teacher subjectivity out of the picture altogether.

Those sorts of potential future benfits will keep MakeMusic working on the linked score-parts feature for many versions to come, in my opinion.

I just wish that Finale could come up with some major new notation feature FIRST, instead of always waiting for Sibelius to do it and then see how they can reverse-engineer it and adapt it to Finale.
