And to really complicate it:

 - 'the University of Oxford' =  'Oxford University'
 - 'the University of Edinburgh' = 'Edinburgh University'

And so on, but:

 - 'University College London'
 - 'City University'
 - 'Queen's University Belfast'....



And for whoever mentioned 'NEC' earlier:  my immediate association is
the National Exhibition Centere in Birmingham, and Google agrees ;)
