I don't know it this helps. I find the codes using "Word". I have the
version, but I think it's quite the same in the english version:
Insert / Special characters
Choose the font you wish. Click on the desired character. The code appears
at the bottom.
To insert the character in Finale (Windows), you need to know the "decimal"
code, not the hexadecimal one. Choose that.
In Finale, type Alt-xxxx (replace the "x" with the right digits; you need to
enter 4 digits).

It works. If someone has a better trick, I'm interested too...

I use Keyboard Viewer and Character Pallet from the OSX menu.

But I don't know how to get special characters easy on Windows.  I have
seen people are saying numeric value.  How does it work?  Windows
Character Code Panel is quite difficult to use.  It doesn't give you
code index num value like Mac does.  How do you search in the Unicode
character sets?
