What I am saying is there is a middle ground between "I can't get everything into one file" and "I'm gonna have to have every part in a separate file." Since the advent of Fin2007 I have exactly 2 documents per piece. One is the score, and in that document I only care how the score looks. The other contains all the parts, and in that document I only care how the parts look. I can get both to look right, but instead of (as in a marching band piece) 30 files to keep in sync, I only have 2.
I don't understand why it seems to be so difficult to communicate the advantage of having only 2 files. It seems self-evident to me. It's better for everything from entering cues, to printing all parts at once, to speed of switching back and forth between different parts, to single edits that affect all parts simultaneously, to not having to wait for the extract process to finish.
Am I letting MM off the hook? Absolutely not. The feature is unfinished. But that doesn't mean it isn't useful. On the contrary it is *very* useful.
