While that IS a common name, I don't use it because it implies that the 5th 
degree of the chord scale is the altered one, rather than the 4th scale degree. 
Chord symbols in jazz are not only the harmony notes present (like figured bass 
in classical music), they also give information about the chord scale for 
improvisation. Since the chord scale of the Fr6 chord includes both the D and 
the Eb (4th and 5th), I would prefer Ab7(#11) to Ab7(b5). Of course, as I 
mentioned previously, if you are talking about the aug6th chords, you are 
probably NOT talking about a style of music where chord scales are important.
