Yes, not only that. I would suggest that we actually approve translators. I really would not want to just have anyone translate the documentation.
No problem. I'd suggest restricting posts to subscribers, to avoid spam.
All the doc people should subscribe, of course, and all the core people. Ordinary users could subscribe, too.Don't see why the core people would need to subscribe. but that is up to them, I guess :)
Here's what I'd envision having for postings (manually or automatically):Yes, but I would like to have the commit notification send a FULL diff. That way the Translators get an early heads up how much text and what kind of text there is to translate.
1) A post made when a change is made to the main document (e.g faq.xml for the FAQ, x11.xml for the X11 documentation, etc.). This would be flagged as well with a notification to translate the document.
2) A post when a translation of 1) is added.
Yes and maybe something like a status page as in: de: done ja: 60% fr: done
and so on.
Yes of course. That should also cause a news item.
3) A post when a completely new language is made available.
4) Ordinary users would be able to post documentation-related questions/suggestions/etc.Yes that is a good idea. Such questions could easily be approved manually from none-subscribers.
