I have this problem with mine. I haven't gotten into that part of the
restoration, but for my car, I believe the vibration is caused by an out of
balance torque converter. If you have vibration with the car in neutral and
the engine above idle, you may have an out of balance condition in the torque
converter, flywheel, pressure plate or the engine itself.
Pontiac engines are externally balanced, meaning the balance of the crank
includes an offset weight distribution to the flywheel or flex plate, depending
if you have a manual or automatic car. There flex plates manufactured that
require an internally balanced crank. Sometimes a previous owner will install
the wrong flex plate and cause a balance issue. Sometimes the car gets passed
along as to being too difficult or expensive to solve.
If your vibration is only while the car is moving, you may have worn u-joints
or an out of balance driveshaft. I have had driveshaft vibration in my truck
that was caused by worn u-joints but there was no wobble or movement at the
u-joint when testing by hand pressure. I had to swap the u-joint based on
symptoms.
Since you describe this as "motorcycle-like" I'm inclined to think of a
balance issue ahead of the transmission and not the driveshaft or wheels.
Vibration is hard on bearings. I would look for the cause and correct it
rather than use thicker seat cushioning.
There are other possible causes. I hope others will chime in with
suggestions.

My FB with the 400 motor brings a lot of vibration and buzz through
the seats, steering wheel, gear shifter, etc. It's nearly comparable
to a motorcycle. This buzz is starting to affect the nerves in my
lower back, giving me a prickling sensation when I drive.
