David,
I had this exact problem a few months back on my original 69. The
car had been sitting outside in one spot for five years, so I suspected
the tires. I went to the tire shop and had them balanced, but this
didn't help. I drove it like this for another month or so until I had
finished restoring a set of 15x7 Rally IIs. I had a new set of tires
mounted on the new wheels, and the problem went away. After closer
inspection, I had a tire that was out of round. The tire was balanced
properly, but it still caused all kinds of nasty vibrations. If you're
running an old set of tires, this would be the first thing I would look
at.
There was one good thing about the vibration though. It would have
taken me a while to dig that mouse nest out from behind the dash, but
fortunately it was shaken right out into the floor. Every dark cloud has
a silver lining...

My FB does great until about 55-60 and then starts into a vibration that
could rattle your teeth out. I have checked driveline, tire balance,
rear end but cannot figure out what is causing it. I am in the process
of ordering a front end kit and am hoping that solves the problem...any
suggestions out there?
