Another hot running Bird.
I have a ' 67 convert with a 326 4 speed. The coolant temperature at highway
speeds is very high, such as 235 degrees. Turning on the heater drops it about
10 degrees. If I keep it below 50 mph it runs about 205 degrees. I do have a
good thermostat. I have added the filler panels and lower air dam. Water pump
has a stamped steel impeller to which I recently added .125 to the vanes to
decrease clearance to plate. I do have the radiator shroud. I've tried
different ignition timing with no effect. At this point I believe I need a new
radiator. It has the standard 3 tube according to the radiator shop owner. What
would be my best bet? An aluminum from BeCool, or a reproduction brass 3 tube
or spend more for a reproduction 4 tube? Your opinions are welcome.
Thanks, Steve
