Hi Steve,

I had the same problem but with the original 4 core, nothing I did helped
until I broke down and bought the Be Cool with shroud and duel fan set up.
After
installing the Be Cool the 455 ran cool. But, before you spend the $$$ have
you checked your temp gauge? If, you are running an electrical gage try a
manual to see what it reads. Believe it or not your gage might not be working
properly. Unless you have beefed up the 326 your radiator should be ok.

One more thing, you are running a mixture of water and antifreeze, right?
Water by itself does not cool the engine as well as water and antifreeze.

Good Luck,

Terry

Another hot running Bird.
I have a ' 67 convert with a 326 4 speed. The coolant temperature at
highway speeds is very high, such as 235 degrees. Turning on the heater drops
it
about 10 degrees. If I keep it below 50 mph it runs about 205 degrees. I do
have a good thermostat. I have added the filler panels and lower air dam.
Water pump has a stamped steel impeller to which I recently added .125 to the
vanes to decrease clearance to plate. I do have the radiator shroud. I've
tried
different ignition timing with no effect. At this point I believe I need a
new radiator. It has the standard 3 tube according to the radiator shop owner.
What would be my best bet? An aluminum from BeCool, or a reproduction brass
3 tube or spend more for a reproduction 4 tube? Your opinions are welcome.
Thanks, Steve
