OK, I found the diagram that shows the extension wire:

The one they provide in the kit is PN 21 on the diagram, which is for a 6 cyl. 
The one for an 8 cyl is shorter, see PN 11 on the diagram. The return spring 
bracket, which does not come with the kit, is PN 17 on the diagram. CI sells 
this but I think I'm burnt out on buying parts from them.
