I think connecting the spring between the release fork and bellcrank seems to 
be enough. It looks a litle cleaner than putting on the return spring bracket. 
Mine's not original so not worried about having the correct extension wire. I 
just want it to work right and be safe.
 
Here is a picture of the bellcrank and pivot ball poor fitting. I ended up 
filing the pivot ball's larger diameter, just under the ball, so that I could 
get a 1/2" wrench on it to tighten it. Notice the flats at the base of the 
pivot ball bolt are way too close to the block to get a wrench on it with the 
casting protrusions.
