To get my springs out I followed the Chilton instructions. Chained the coil 
spring to the lower control arm and pulled out the bushing bolts. The lower 
control arm was sitting on my floor jack and I was able to lower the control 
arm down to almost the floor. I felt somewhat comfortable with that. 
I bought some coil springs from Ames for the '69 350, coupe, no A/C. I am 
hoping they are between 320 to 345 pounds per inch rated. 
 
Anyway, I had to compress the springs down to just under 12 3/8 to get those 
bad boys in. 
 
I rented a spring compressor from Schucks but that tool was so warn out that it 
would not compress the springs to the height I needed. 
 
I bought a $104 spring compressor from NAPA and felt very comfortable squeezing 
the springs to the height I needed. Of course a lot of help from my big 
brother. ;-)
