I have a disc brake rear end from a 1980 turbo trans-am. Does anybody know if I
can bolt the drum brakes from my '69 Firebird onto this axle? It is a 3.08
posi, and I would like to install it in place of my 2.xx open rear axle, but I
don't want to have disc on the rear and drum brakes on the front. Like Rick, I
am satisfied with well maintained drum brakes. I also don't want to spend the
money to convert the front to disc, as I already plan to spend too much on a/c,
long branch manifolds, etc.
Thanks,
David

Just my two cents...i do agree with Bjorn. My 69 had drums all around and i
had NNNNNOOOOO problems stopping...even after a few quarter mile passes...lol.
Just depends on what you want vs. need in my humble opinion. And yes, discs are
easier to change, but have enough cars in my stable that ive become pretty darn
good with the drums.
