Talk to Gary Tayman and see what he can do for your
radio.??www.taymanelectric.com
I know he does conversions (he turned my factory AM into a AM/FM/MP3) and I
think he does some fix-up of original too.? If you want to keep your steering
box original I think almost any competent shop can rebuild it.??I use
Benchworks??http://www.benchworksteering.com/ here in Scottsdale AZ ($169 for
regular rebuild).? They also can change it to a different ratio and change the
torsion bar to give it higher effort.? I think they charge about $50 - $70
bucks
extra for each of those.? I've had them do three boxes over the years and
haven't had any problems with them.? A lot of people use a newer slightly
faster
ratio box - I talked to the guy at benchworks and he said the older boxes, like
on the FB are actually slightly better and can be rebuilt to the same ratio and
effort as the newer boxes.? I don't know what was "better" though.?

?

I am hoping some of you guys with years of experience can help me out.? I'm
about to tear down my 69 Firebird 400HO and am looking for some good places to
send out various parts to have them restored.? I would prefer to do the work
myself as I have in the past, but due to recurring deployments to Iraq, I just
don't have time.??I want to get my bird back together in time for the summer
cruise season, so this is how I'll have to do it.? Affordable is important, and
so is a fairly quick turnaround.? Thanks to everyone that can provide some
information.?

Disc brake master cylinder and proportioning valve
Power brake booster
Carburetor
Distributor
Power steering gear
box
YW code 400 engine - thinking about shipping to Butler Performance for the
rebuild
AM/FM stereo radio and speakers (works, but I want to recondition all of it)
Dash clock

Thanks again,
Bryan
