You can temporarily connect one of those inexpensive syphoning bulbs to the 
line that's connected to the fuel pump and the other end of the hose into a can 
of gas raised above the front of the car a bit and start some gas going into 
the line and it will work it's way into the tank then pinch it closed and 
quickly connect it back to the fuel pump.

Pour a bit of gas in the carb and start it (you may have to repeat a few times 
when it stalls out till the bowl fills).

Just be carefull and don't burn the place down.

Any good tips on priming the fuel system (from tank to carb is dry)? Pump is 
mechanical.
