Here is a pic that shows the issue.

 

Left Switch: D-side original (1/4" barrel)

Middle Switch: New P-side (1/2" barrel)

Right Switch: Modified new P-side switch. I cut the top of the barrel off so 
that the push pin can slide in deeper and the door won't bottom out on the 
barrel before closing. This modified new switch works but it's a little noisy 
since the cut on the barrel is not smooth and the spring is exposed and rubs as 
it closes. Not a big deal but slightly annoying sound.
