First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Anybody use cup wire brushes? I've used a DeWalt cup brush on my variable speed grinder to do local areas and it seems to remove the paint (and old bondo) nicely without major scratching the metal. Not sure how it would work for whole panels or the whole car. I would assume if you stayed in one place too long you would heat up the metal and cause warping, just like with any mechanical method. First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Auto Quip Inc. makes 4.5" discs for angle grinders that strips paint nicely. I bought a kit (maybe from Eastwood?) that includes the backing pad, rust remover disc (very coarse), stripping discs (medium coarse), and final cleaning discs (light coarse). A couple pads and you can do the whole car. It is slow and a lot of work, but the metal is nice and smooth afterwards. Aviation Stripper is too messy. I also have used a light flapper disc on an angle grinder and that gets the paint off nicely too. I'll see if I can find the actual kit number and vendor.
