There's nothing wrong with re-bodying to make a race car.  But it is illegal to
move the vin tag from a scrap vehicle to the new body or different car.  Moving
the vin from a total loss TA to a plain-jane is fraud.  When you move the tag
to the plain-jane you have not "saved" a TA.  There's nothing wrong with making
a plain-jane into a TA tribute or clone.  But you can't apply a TA Vin to the
project.

I see nothing wrong with re-bodying.  If it illegal. Why does dynacorn sell
all those bodies? I'm sure all those buyers are registering them as new
model year cars with state issued vin's.... NOT

I had posed this before...

With all the replacement pars out there, when does the car cease being the
original car ? you can literally replace every piece of sheet metal on our
cars. Where is the line ?

If you find a wasted 68 ram air II bird what would you do ? junk it in order
to do the 'right thing' ?

Me, re body, re stamp re whatever.....
