First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... I think Dan is correct, disclosure is the key.
In N.C., the DMV License and Theft Inspector would be very interested to know about an undocumented re-body. It might be possible to do it legally, but I expect the DMV would "brand" the title to allow a subsequent buyer to know. To re-body a vin and fail to disclose that information would be outright fraud. Even with disclosure to the first buyer, it sets the stage for a fraud to be perpetrated on a later purchaser unless the title is branded. I don't have an issue with a re-body, as long as it is fully disclosed and the buyer knows exactly what he or she is actually buying. I would hate to pay for a rare car and later discover that I really paid for a rare vin tag in another body... If I were doing the re-body, first I would disclose it and second, I would want the title branded to avoid liability issues and claims possibly years later from a buyer I never dealt with. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year! I really enjoy the discussions and information on this list & hope to make it to the Cannonbird Run!
