You're right, it is hard to for a car that hasn't been changed. I just got
this 400 and thought is was more original than it is. I have a 68 Sprint that
I am restoring, so have lots of extra parts (I throw nothing away-something may
be needed later). I've been able to replace a lot of things missing on the
400, since both cars are black deluxe interiors. It was frustrating to just
try to get the car inspected (in Texas it has to be inspected to be registered
and titled). There were decades of wiring mistakes and stereo/security system
butcherings!

The aftermarket shifters usually have a bolt in stick, but there may be some
that have the other kind. I'm not sure if these aftermarket Hurst competition
plus shifters are still being made so it may be worth keeping. It is probably
worth rebuilding--maybe not worth a complete restoration so please keeep it, or
you could try e-bay if you wanted to sell it. I have one with stop bolts also
that works perfectly, but I wanted a completely original one.

It is hard to find a car that has not had something changed--shifter, voltage
regulator, alternator, master cylinder, horn relay, wheels, etc. Michael
