Here are some things you can try:
   Firefox > Tools > Addons > Extensions: is Firebug there? If not
your install failed.  Since you created a new profile no other
extensions should be listed.

Firefox URL "about:config" add new pref extensions.logging.enabled =
true.
Firefox > Tools > Error Console
Try install from web site, look on console for errors.

If there is any one thing to try twice its the "new Firefox profile".
Don't delete the old one, just create and use a new one. Usuallly
uninstall/reinstall has no effect on funky problems.
