If you want to try to fix this, please load the tracing version of
firebug, 1.5X, http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.5X. Follow the
instructions on http://groups.google.com/group/firebug/web/faq-about-firebug.
Post the trace on http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/list.

My bet is that some extension you have is interfering with Firebug.
That is why it fails for you but not for me and others.
