I tried posting this last night but "An error was encountered while trying to post", and I see there has been more activity on this thread since - but I'm posting anyway:
Hmmm.... I've just understood that you can have both "Off for All Web Pages" AND "On for All Web Pages" both unselected! I thought it was a toggle as I don't remember specifically selecting one or the other. I did think it was kinda confusing, but just a result of all the complaints causing you to add the extra option. OK, so uncheck both options and Firebug works as expected - sorry for the diversion. However, I'm not quite sure now as tho the point of "Off for All Web Pages" is then apart from clearing the whitelist, and preventing firebug from remaining opening. Maybe it should be renamed to "Clear Whitelist" and be a one time only operation. On a separate note, just as a nit, would it be possible to prevent firebug from closing, then reopening on reload? It's just a visual thing, but irritating in the same way as too much animation on a web page.
