The mach64 DRI 3d driver is under active development at the moment -
it's working, I believe, and actually working fairly well . . .

See http://dri.sf.net - you may have to run the DRI cvs tree for
this, and upgrade to XFree86 4.2, but it's not too hard . . . Not
much harder than running plib/SimGear/FlightGear from cvs.

Considering how cheaply you can get modern, well supported cards,
this might be the best option . . .
