I guess there ought to be an explicit flag the user can set at startup
stating whether or not they want to be "seen" or not. THe default would be
"invisible".

Are there *analogues* to combat that could be made an enjoyable and
ethically acceptable part of FlightGear such that those who wanted
"simulated combat training" or "historical battle reenactments" to be
present could make them be present?
