Agreed... I've used JPEG in the past when working on the Bocian, and for many 
textures I couldn't visually tell the difference between JPEG and RGB in the 
sim (these were photo based textures.)  The file size difference there was 
massive, too.

For stuff I generate from SVG I expect to stick to PNG, mostly for 
convenience.
