I can certainly confirm ;-). It's not just a longer delay for initial
start-up (splash screen takes much longer to drop), it's also causing
issues with scenery taking too long to be loaded at run-time, so the
aircraft sometimes flies into a patch of void.

It also seems to delay unloading of scenery tiles (noticeable when
trying to shutdown). This reminds me of an issue we had a while ago,
where we had a huge number of shared models (cattle and horses)
scattered across the scenery. Something in OSG doesn't scale well with
huge numbers - which only caused issues when trying to unload a scenery
tile. Since loading and unloading is done in the same thread, this also
caused the loader to almost stall. Not sure, if this could also be a
factor here. At the time, the only solution we (mainly Tim) saw, was
drastically reducing the number of shared models (cull the cattle... ;-) ).

Another issue: the density range in the rendering dialog is 0-10.
However, even with density 1.5 the buildings look pretty packed. For me,
only a density of 0.17 is about usable (avoids the void scenery patch
issue). This, however, is the lowest possible setting on the slider -
and is very tricky to adjust (just try to configure such a low value,
you'll see what I mean).

Can we somehow change the slider to a lower range, e.g. 0-3? Not sure if
higher values made any sense at all. Actually, I have the same issue
with the vegetation density slider. Does the range 0-10 really make any
sense to anyone? A lower range would make it much easier to configure
usable values on the slider.

cheers,
Thorsten
