Yea, the panel couldn't find a file so it just wouldn't load anything.
I moved the missing gauge files into the F4E/ path and all is well.  The
N1 gauges are oversized so I can read them...  The little needle
disappears on my 1024x768 display if they match the size of the other
instruments.

I don't have any flight numbers, either so its just a best guess effort.

AFAIK, the F4E and F4F are the same except for the combat avionics
suite: radar and ECM.  They certainly look the same.

I left space for the hook.  All F4 variants have one, the fact that it
is missing kind of throws off the model's profile.  I'm not sure how to
animate it, though.  It behaves much like a fourth landing gear, when
extended it hangs even with the extended wheels then slides across the
runway.

It is a feature :)  The front cockpit is so far forward of the wing the
aft bulkhead blocks the view.
