Hi Luke
As well as the file William is pointing you to there is some other things
you
need to know about the AI from a noob perspective.

There are two AI programs for FG one is by David Luff and involves cessnas
landing
at the airport you are currently at . You may have seen them or seen the ATC
chater at the top of the screen.I know nothing about these.
The secound AI is the one done by Durk. This involves using any aircraft
model available
to FG to fly a dedicated traffic schedule. These schedules are located in the
Traffic folder
inside the Data directory. The best way to learn how these work is to have a
look at the
XML files in this folder along with the instruction PDF refered by William.
Unfortunately this will not see aircraft parked all over an airport infact
if there are any
AI aircraft at the airport they will all be parked at one point that being
the reference point
for the airport in question.
To get the aircraft to park and taxi correctly you will need to make a
ground network file
for the airport. This is not covered yet in the PDF refered to above.
To see what is involved you will need to have a look in the Data directory
in airports/AI
in there you should find a least two folders one KSFO and the other
EHAM.Inside these
folders you will find a parking file and a runway file. The runway file is
not essential as the
aircraft will use the default runway for the airport you are using. But the
parking file is
essential as this lays out the taxi/parking map for the aircraft to use.The
parking file consists
of three parts.
1 The lat/lon of the parking bay along with the heading the aircraft will be
facing when parked
and the size of the aircraft that can use the bay

2 The lat/lon of the points on the taxiways that the aircraft follows.

3 Taxiway segments these join the taxiway nodes and parking bay points all
together to form
the ground network for the airport .

To find the taxiway nodes and parking bay points you can use the UFO aircaft
along with the property tree to find the LAT/LON of each point.
You can also use the program taxidraw to find the points but I will not go
into that here.

As you can see the AI at present is not for the noob but if you have not
seen them already
there are United 737 taxing and taking off at KSFO,that is not including the
737 that takes
off of runway 28L as soon as you start at KSFO that is a different part of
the AI.

Hope this helps a bit. If you have further question dont hesitate to ask as
the more people working
on it the sooner the world will be populated.

Cheers
Innis

Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
Get stuff done quickly with pre-integrated technology to make your job easier
Download IBM WebSphere Application Server v.1.0.1 based on Apache Geronimo
