Hi  people
at the risk of being flamed (I run 098a) my experiences are;
1) run a simple circling jet scenario (plenty of documentation on this,
see Dirks notes/post) ...low alt, low speed just to make sure that AI
aircraft appear and can be seen. If the aircraft can't be seen, vary the
aircraft...some have some xmls that aren't "AI-friendly"
2) when you can get a circling jet working, add in a flight plan. Again
test this and try things until you can see the aircraft and it behaves
in a way that can be explained. A few pointers on this don't rely on the
"repeat" parameter, I don't believe it works (not in 098a anyway), copy
the lat/long/alt parameters several times and set the speed to...say
15knots to make it easy to find.
3) Start getting adventurous... :-)

A few notes (098a specific) on AI aircraft;
- depending on the xml file used various parts of the aircraft might not
appear .... CURE: look at any "View" conditions that might be in the xml
(I found this effected the Spitfire)
- the propeller won't spin... CURE/WORK-AROUND: because propeller revs
are tied into the engine speed property and the AI property tree doesn't
have an engine speed property...fudge it and make it dependant on air speed
- Flaps and Gear won't extend and retract.... CURE/WORK-AROUND: same
property tree reason...fudge it on air speed
- multiple AI aircraft behave erractically.... the AI property tree is
indexed depending on the order the aircraft are defined... the
properties are referenced to the wrong/non-existent index.

I've had 7 different type of AI aircraft flying different approaches,
each behaving as the individual aircraft should (ie taildraggers drag
their tails on touch-down & gear/flaps extend/retract at plausible
speeds etc). This was using flightplans that allowed me to specify
lat/long way points rather than ICAO waypoints (wasn't using traffic
manager for this reason). I had to extensively modify the aircrafts xml
file, then tailor it to the order of definition in the scenario.

Really looking forward to trying my scenarios in 0.9.10/CVS to see some
of the recent improvements I understand have happened.

Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
Get stuff done quickly with pre-integrated technology to make your job easier
Download IBM WebSphere Application Server v.1.0.1 based on Apache Geronimo
