In edit mode in blender select the face, then click the flip normals 
button. On the mesh tools panel you'll see a Draw Normals button, and a 
selector to set the size of the normals - enable this and you'll see a 
normal line drawn from the centre of every face - make sure these are 
pointing outwards. You can fix these in bulk by selecting lots of faces 
at once, and pressing ctrl-N (recalculate normals outside) - with 
complex models you may find that it'll get a few wrong, but they can be 
fixed individually as above.
