Hi

I tried this in the forums some days ago but didn't recieve a single
answer, so I decided to gie it a try here.

I'm using the FreeBSD Port of FlightGear on a FreeBSD 6.1-RC machine.
My version of FlightGear is 0.9.10 and I'm using a Saitek X45.

I managed FlightGear to recognize my joystick but I can't use it:

When I start fgfs, ailerons and elevators are at their maximum extent
(maximum right for the ailerons and maximum up for the elevators). When
I move my stick, I have to move it down fully to move the elevators and
I have to move it left fully to move the ailerons. Both of them are then
in their maximum left and maximum down position.

Centering the stick does not center the controls on the plane, instead
they "jump" back to their maximum right and up position.

I tested this behavior with may X45 as mentioned above and with a
Saitek ST290. Both are showing the same problem. I also tested this with
an USB-joypad from another Vendor (show's up in js_demo as GreenAsia).
This works fine, here are no problems.

So it seems that my FlightGear as some problems with Saitek-Joysticks.
Are there known issues I should know about? Or are I'm missing
something? I searched the web the last days but didn't find something
about this specific problem. Additionally fgjs does not work for me:
When started with no params, it crashes, when started with "--prop" it
locks while calibrating the stick. As I'm using FreeBSD, im unable to
use jscal.

with best regards,

Sven
