thanks for your reply. I discovered that I'm able to use the linux
joystick support, wich has been ported to freebsd. Nevertheless it
doesn't work. I'm not even sure if flightgear uses the /dev/input/js0 or
/dev/uhid0 device. Both of them are working and usable. Recalibrating my
stick with jscal doesn't work either. I ran it and then started fgfs,
also I ran it, rebooted ans then started fgfs.

The only thing I can say is that fgfs detects my stick correctly. It
uses the X45 driver from [...]/Input/Joysticks/Saitek/X45. And my stick
is a X45. Ah, and by the way: Opening and changing cables inside is no
option for me.
