Yes, that's true, but ...

Unless we save our own version, as Duncan proposed, we will always have
the problem that changes in the tool will also introduce formatting
changes in our sources. Of course we could help by filing bug reports
(and we should probably do), but that doesn't solve the general problem
of formatting changes by the (next version of the) tool.

We must be careful and select a stable tool ... or only do a one-shot
formatting, as I said before, and live with the result with manual
cleanup...


BTW: we've seen this in doxygen, where the newer version creates
different file names for the "same" documentation. This introduces
lots of diffs when updating the web site with the generated docs.
This wouldn't be a big problem, if this wasn't svn-based, but you
get the idea (I hope).
